In the summer months you are even likely to see our regular visitors the porpoises playing in the bay. Criccieth is also a regular winner of the Britain in Bloom contest and the flowers alone are well worth a visit.
Criccieth Castle dominates the town atop its rocky perch and is a must for all visitors, there is an exhibition at the foot of the castle and the short climb to the castle itself rewards you with fantastic views of the Town with the mountains of Snowdonia beyond and to the south a view of the coastline making its way towards the mountain ranges of mid Wales. Nearby are also the historic castles of Harlech and Caernarfon.

A visit to the peak is well worthwhile as the views are breathtaking, on a really clear day you can even see Ireland.
Nearby Portmeirion is a fascinating village created by the architect Clough Williams-Ellis in an Italianate style. Full of weird and wonderful buildings salvaged from all parts of the World Portmeirion offers a most fascinating day out. Many of you will remember the village which was used as the set for the TV series ‘The Prisoner’
To the West of Criccieth stretches the Llyn Peninsula with its rolling countryside and lovely beaches, you can visit the market town of Pwllheli, the beach and watersports town of Abersoch or just meander and discover the many traditional Welsh villages that populate this spur of land.
